Change State of Buttons in Branching TOC using Variables

Hello All, 

I need your help. I've done a branching TOC where the buttons change state from inactive, to normal, to done using variables before. However, I've forgotten how I did it. I am attaching a sample of what I want. I have a feeling it's how I've set up my variable. 

In this sample I would be excited if it went from normal to done. I've turned off the next button on the Module branching slide, and have the variable going from false to true with the start of the timeline on the Key Takeaway slides.

    The problem is here:

    This variable is changed on another slide. Only the slide that changes a variable can hear that change. This landing page isn't open when the variable changes, so doesn't change the state.

    Try changing "when variable changes" to "when timeline on this slide starts"
