Can I change a thumbnail on a video?
Right now it is showing a black screen, is there a way to add a thumbnail image from my video as the cover instead of a black screen?

Yes indeed: thumbnail option is critically needs in RISE for Videos not to start with blank frame.

From my experience, if your video fades up at the beginning you'll have either a blank black or white frame - not ideal, agreed. A simple solution would be to trim the fade (usually just the first second or two) from the video. You can even use PowerPoint to do this if you don't have any fancy video editing software. Rise should now display whatever is the start point of the video which now will be an image rather than a blank. If you want to show an alternative image simply put the desired image as a single frame at the very start of your video - you'll probably need that fancy editing software at this point. Good luck.

This works like a charm - thank you!

I see the staff has been commenting on this request saying it has been added as a feature request within the past 2 months. You do realize that this was requested over 5 years ago right? You may want to reevaluate your request process because this one keeps getting ignored and it has a lot of weight behind it. Any platform that allows videos to be uploaded has the ability to update the thumbnail except yours. This is basic functionality that was ignored by your development team and needs to be added.

AGREED! We need the ability to either upload or choose a thumbnail from somewhere in the video. That or allow for embedding the video from somewhere like Wistia where we have already chosen a thumbnail!

I agree with all the above. Most video platforms allow you to upload or select a thumbnail.

The default rise video provides a beach image, so the capability seems to be there. Why can't user's videos show the thumbnail cover image???
Hi there, John. The default Rise video is showing the first frame of the video before the learner clicks to play. Is the first frame of your video not showing? We can have a look at your video file and see if we can make any recommendations. You can share it with us privately by clicking here if you'd like!

I agree with the above, this needs to be added ASAP.

We NEED this function in Rise - so much more work to edit each video first and upload. Would save so much time to just be able to upload a thumbnail cover!

Yes, also agree that this is basic functionality and needed urgently.
Hi there, Jonathan. This isn't an option currently, but we're tracking this request. I'll tag this discussion for updates.
In the meantime, some folks are using Replay 360 to add an image at the beginning of a video, and publishing to .mp4.

Hi. We are demanding the adding video cover image feature on the Rise 360 as soon as possible :)) Thank you.

Hi Crystal,
Originally this thread started many years ago, can you confirm if this option is available now? If yes then how can I make the changes in Rise 360?
Thanks,
Sheetal
