Storyline Error Report request and unable to preview/publish my project
I am receiving a Articulate Storyline Error Report request and unable to preview/publish my project. I have tried several time to preview a Storyline project. I have names it a few times and gone back to prior saved versions (names differently) to see if that would help. I also tried to publish a 360 review/publish to desktop to see if that would work - same error received. I am able to preview individual slides. Does this mean the file is corrupt now?
Hi everyone!
I'm excited to report that we've released the fix for this bug in today's Storyline 360 update!
In Storyline 360 Update 44 (Build 3.44.23192.0), you'll see that an error report doesn't show up when publishing or previewing a project that has a hyperlink in a shape state.
Thank you to everyone who reported this issue! Now all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app!

Hi Luis,
I'm sorry to hear you're running into this issue! It's possible you may have an animation set without Effect Options and that can cause Storyline to crash or be unable to preview.
This was fixed in the latest version of Storyline 360, which was released today! Try updating to Update 42 and see if that helps! Details here.

Ren - I am having the same problem today - never before today. After I did the latest updates, I lost the ability to Preview a scene. I can Preview and individual screen but nothing else not even the entire project. I also get the Articulate error message about notifying Articulate. There are no animations or anything other than simple images and text. I removed an entire scene from todays work and tried a Preview without that scene and no luck. I rebooted many times and even tried to Preview older work and no Preview. Need some help. Thanks
Hi David,
Thanks for chiming in and sharing that you're experiencing a similar issue with your project file.
I'm curious if the issue happens in any course you are working on or just this particular one?
- If you cannot re-create the issue in a new course, I would advise you to import the file into a new one and proceed.
- If it's happening in any/all files, you should conduct a repair of your software.
If you'd like us to take a look, then with your permission, please share your project file. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

I have the same issue. I tried the recommended suggestions. Any other thoughts as to how to fix the issue?
Hi All,
I had engineering looking at the error reports and we found that when there are hyperlinks included on a shape state in Update 42 and Update 43 of Storyline 360, Preview/Publish can freeze or hang.
We're working on a fix for this but the delivery date of that fix is undetermined. If you can find a path forward in your project that does not use a hyperlink on a shape state, you should be able to preview and publish. If you are still unable to preview or publish after removing the hyperlink, we have found success in recreating the slide from scratch (not via copy/paste or duplicate).

Hi, Starla.
I'm happy to help! Can you share the .story file either here or privately through a support case so we can help you troubleshoot?

I'm experiencing the same issue. Storyline 360 allows me to preview individual slides, but displays an error message when trying to preview or publish the project. My course is about 20 slides in length and does not include hyperlinks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Shannon,
I'm sorry to hear that you're receiving an error message when attempting to preview or publish your project. I'm happy to help troubleshoot!
I'd like to ask you a few clarifying questions to start:
- What is the error message you are receiving?
- Is this issue happening with multiple projects or one specific file? Have you tried importing your slides into a new Storyline file?
- Have you tried to repair your software?
If the issue persists, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate further! You can upload it here or privately in a support case. We'll delete it from our systems once troubleshooting is complete.
