Software simulations when working remotely with SMEs

Hello. I've taken the recorded tutorials for creating software simulation courses. They were very helpful. I did have a question about being able to record the software steps if you were not the person actually performing the tasks. For instance- If I wanted to work remotely with a subject matter expert and record their actions in software (through something like Zoom or Teams), will the system track SME clicks and data input to be duplicated in "Try Mode" or "Test Mode"? Or, do I as the user have to complete all of the tasks in the software for Articulate to track it?

  • Hi, Scot.

Storyline's screen recording feature is designed to only record the actions of the user on the computer where the software is installed. Recording the mouse movements or actions within a session in Zoom or Teams is not currently available.

However, I'm looking forward to what alternatives or workarounds our talented community members will suggest for your scenario.

Thank you for the reply. I'm wondering if we used Teams, and the person gave me control of their screen (which works on some applications), if it would record them then?

  • Hi, Scot.

I'm not sure if this would work, but it's certainly worth a try!

Can you share your results with the community if you decide to test this option?
