Replacing Audio for Translation

Hello, so I am developing a number of modules that are then to be translated in multiple languages. Now each module has texts, audio voice over, captions and videos in them, all of which are to be translated and replaced. There are a lot of audio files and subtitle files (over 150 on each category).

For the text, I can use the Translation Tool to export to word and then import the translated text back.

My question is how do I easily replace the Audio files, Subtitle Files and the Video files without replacing one by one?

  • Hi,
That was 4 years ago. Is there still no way to translate the text to voice elements?

    Hi Minhaz,

Adding on to what Judy mentioned, if you have animations synced to your audio, you may want to note where your animation cue points are in the script you send in for translation. That way you'll know where they are in the translated script too. You might also be able to get your voice-over artists to give you the time stamps for those markers in the new narration language files.

Also, while you may need to replace your audio and video files individually, if you make those swaps in Storyline 360's Media Library it can often be done faster than on individual slides.

Hi Bianca, thanks for your reply. The cue point and media library suggestion is very helpful.

  • Hi, Minhaz,

Unfortunately, there's no automatic way to replace audio, video, and caption files. You will have to replace them one by one.

Also, re-recorded audio probably won't be the same length as the original. Depending on the language, it could be shorter or longer.  Thus, if you've got anything synced to the audio (such as animations), the timelines need to be adjusted, too.

Hi Judy, thanks for your reply and the word of caution. I will keep them in mind.
