Multiple layers are crashing Preview & Chrome

I have just submitted this as a case, but I'll post it here, in case anyone else is struggling with this.

I have two courses the have slides with multiple (10+) layers. The users are required to open each layer and wait while the timeline of the layer plays.

However, if the user then selects the navigation buttons (NEXT and PREV) to return to the slide, it crashes both Preview in Storyline and Chrome in a published SCORM file. I have recreated the issue in a test Storyline file.

Anyone else having this problem?

  • Hi Brad and Rena!

Good news! We are no longer seeing this bug in the latest version of Storyline 360 (Build 3.72.29699.0) where slides load slowly in the modern player when you increase the number of objects and layers in a slide.

To insure you don't continue to see this bug download the latest version of Storyline 360 via the Articulate 360 desktop app. Here's an article on how to do that.

Please let us know if you're still noticing the issue, and we'd love to continue troubleshooting with you in a support case.

  • UPDATE: I rolled Storyline back to the July 7th update and am still seeing the issue.

    Hi Rena,

Thank you for sharing these updates! Great call on opening up a case. I see that Jan is working closely with you on this and found that this is a current bug. I have attached this forum thread to our report as well, and we will reach out with any updates we can provide!
