Markers doesn't open when returning a slide

Hey,

I work on Storyline 3 and i have a problem with the markers.

I have a slide with markers in it, the markers have a visited state, when i move to a different slide and return back to it, the markers don't open again (they stay on the visited satate and the text box doesn't open).

What can be the reason?

I'll appreciate any help with this issue, thank you!

It could be that your slide properties are set to "Resume Saved State" and this is storing the "visited" state of your assets, and not allowing further clicks (maybe because some other layer, asset state etc is now blocking that trigger / interaction)

Try setting the slide properties to "Reset to Initial State" in the Slide Properties window (little cog icon in bottom right of Storyline)

  • Is there is a way to keep the resume saved state on the slide so the user won't need to start from the begining everytime he return to it, but still will be able to open the textboxs of the markers?

The purpse of the markers visited state is to show the user he already read this information (a checked mark) so it is really important

      Hello Amarel Training Development,

Happy to look into this for you!

Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at why your markers are losing their ability to open on a slide revisit? We'll delete it when we're done testing!

So markers should store their state, but still allow interactivity - even when resuming saved state.
Im not sure why yours doesnt.

However, you can do what you want using variables and triggers. The variables will hold the state of the marker (clicked or not) and then the triggers would be applied to the "when timeline starts" of your slide. Using the triggers, set each marker's state to the "checked mark" if the variable is true.

That way you are manually controlling it and can set the functionality to whatever you need.

  • Hey,

I also thought about the option of control through triggers/variables, in my case there are relatively many markers in each layer, thats why I looked for another way.

Unfortunately, for reasons of confidentiality at work and working on an offline version of the storyline, I do not have the possibility to upload a copy of the file.

Anyway, thank you very much for the answers and help i'll use it!
