Articulate Storyline - Unable to Create Button Sets with 2+ objects

I have 6 icons on my slide. All come from the 360 Content Library. If I select the first two and right click, I see Button Set as an option on the menu. However, if I select 3 or 4 or any other combination besides the first two, I do not see the Button Set option when I right click. Nothing is grouped. These are all individual objects.

See attached. Slide 2.6

I restarted my computer just in case. No luck

  • Hi Edith,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your file! In slide 2.6, each icon is actually a group of objects. You can tell by the drop-down next to the icon.

Groups cannot be part of a button set as they cannot have states. Can you explain why you'd like to create a set from these, though? This will help the community provide additional guidance on what you're trying to accomplish!

  • If you want to quickly convert the icons to images so you can set them in a button set, right-click save as image and then a folder opens and you drag the image back onto the slide.

If you do that, I'd scale the icons up so when you save them the resolution is a little higher and I'd also save as .png

  • Ren - thank you for pointing out that the icons I am using are not actually a single object. I did not realize that. Now I know why I cannot add them to a button set.

I wanted to use the icons as buttons to open layers. However, now that I know icons are not single objects. I will rethink my original design.

  • Tom - thanks for the idea to save a collection of objects as an image. Now that I know that I may be able to convert the icons I want to use into single images.

I wanted buttons so that I can take advantage of the different states like selected, visited, etc.  I can now see that some of the icons I selected are single images while some of the others are groups. I had not noticed that before.

Thank you both so very much for your help! I can figure out how to accomplish what I want to create now.
