Are Drop Shadows out-of-date for icons?
Hey there designers, are drop shadows out-of-date for eLearning icons? What does everyone think? If you use drop shadows, what settings are most effective in Storyline?

Good question. A lot of those things go in and out of style and is somewhat objective. In a simple sense, a drop shadow is good to create some separation between the objects on the screen. If you had clickable icons, then having a drop shadow may visually indicate the difference between that and a non-clickable object.
How dramatic the shadow should be is a matter of 1) what looks good and 2) current design trends. I like to look at design places like dribbble where you can see what people design and that may indicate ideas for drop shadows. I did a search for icons and most of them tend to be flatter with none.
