Screen Recording in Storyline not recognizing keystrokes

I'm building a series of simulations for app training using the screen recording tool with Try steps. I've built many of these in the past, but am running into a new problem: 

The screen recording is only showing clicks - not typing or any other keystrokes. I know I can use fine action tuning to extend the clip and show the text being entered, but I need the text entry and sometimes keystrokes to be a separate step. I can build some of these manually with text entry fields, but there are several and this is a very large project so I'd rather not. 

I've tried recording in Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Edge and Opera and it isn't working in any browser. I've also tried several websites and apps with no luck and just updated to the latest version of SL to check if that would fix it - no luck. 

Has anyone else run into this problem recently and have any advice?
