I have several courses in my 'Team' area of my account that have been shared with me at one point and are now in there. I cannot move them, organize them, or remove them from my Team area. How do I go about doing this? I am in a situation where some of the original authors who shared them may no longer be available or able to unshare them with me.

There isn't a way to remove shared content you don't own from the Team folder. The content in the Team folder and all its subfolders show all courses that have permission to be viewed by team members.
You can change the view here to show only the courses you own to reduce the number of courses visible on your dashboard.
