Line spacing changing after update

Hi, i've just  updated to the latest version v3.84.31647.0 and when opening my previous project, the line spacing change to wrong number.

Ex:
previous version: text 84pt, line spacing (exactly) 86pt
new version, text 84pt, line spacing (exactly) 64.5pt

same project, only on 2 different storyline version

  • Hello all!

In Storyline 360 (Build 3.85.31840.0), we fixed a bug that many of you were running into:

    • Fixed: Changes to the spacing setting didn't save when opening project files with the previous update.

From here, all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app!

If you run into any issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Support team in a support case.

Hi there, we are having this problem in all our Storyline files as well.

When we open our files, the paragraph spacing on the Master Slides has been changed, but any spacing that was manually set on the slides has remained the same (e.g., spacing between list items was set to 12pt, so spaces between list items is still 12pt), but anywhere that there was regular spacing between paragraphs, where the spacing was not manually set and relied on the spacing set in the slide master, the spacing was changed.

    Original paragraph space: 18pt
Paragraph space after updating to current Storyline version: 13.5pt

The Storyline version we are using is: 3.84.31647.0

I'm attaching a test file with one slide that has both regular paragraphs and a bulleted list if you want to see the difference. Please try opening it in version 3.83.31444.0 first, then check the paragraph spacing of the regular paragraph, between the bullets, and check the paragraph spacing on the master slide, then do the same in the current version, you should be able to replicate the issue as I have.

I will say that updating the paragraph spacing on the master slide seems to have fixed it. We have not fully tested this fix, but after changing the paragraph spacing on the master, and closing and reopening the file, the change seems to have stuck.

This bug is heavily impacting our work, as we do alot of development in Storyline. Hopefully there's a fix for this soon.

While I have your attention, it would be really nice if the paragraph spacing options window could either be left open (as the accessibility and size/position window currently can be), or the paragraph spacing could be included in the Paragraph area of the Home ribbon so that you don't have to open the window every time you want to change or check something. It really slows things down.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi, I'm having this problem too. Is there a way to fix this for the entire file?

The version I use is this :  3.84.31647.0

  • Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that everyone in this thread encountered this issue. I can confirm that the behavior where the line spacing has changed for projects after opening in Update 84 is a known bug that we are currently monitoring. The currently identified workaround is to downgrade to Update 83 until a fix becomes available.

We'll be sure to leave a message here when we have new updates to share, and our apologies for any inconvenience this bug may have caused.

  • Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing the same problem but downgrading doesn't help with it.

I uploaded my project to review on the 26th of January and there everything was still normal. And only a couple minutes later I saved them as SCORM (no update was done inbetween or whatsoever) and the SCORMS all have a reduced line spacing and whatever I do now the problem remains even after downgrading as far back as to September last year...

I hope this bug gets fixed or that there's another solution than having to go through all of my projects and adjust the line spacing manually (that would be endless work that I'm not willing to do).

I am still having spacing issues on my laptop. Other people in the organisation are not having the issue with the file, but I am.

On a specific font the line spacing is set to 1, but showing (only on my computer) as 2.

        Hello Lydia!

Are you and the other people in your organization all using the same version of Storyline 360? It would be helpful to know if you're using the latest version of Storyline 360 and/or Storyline 360 64-bit.

  • Same problem here. Ive opened an older file because my client ask correction, and the problem is still there. I uninstalled the latest version, reinstalled the december version and all is ok.
