Knowledge Check is washed out for whatever reason

Articulate Storyline once again is wasting my time. I am simply trying to create knowledge checks and adjusted the slide master layout to remove the default feedback boxes. Who knows why the process is so complicated? I don't know if this is a direct result, but for whatever reason, now, every time I preview the slide, it's washed out/blurred for absolutely zero reason.

Given that there are deadlines and timelines, major, inexplicable inconveniences like this are just poor software design imo.

Come to find out: all slides are now washed out/blurred. Super-amazing.

I'm sorry, but I can't upload anything to show as examples because of company policy.

The blur (or fade) is due to the fact that, by default, the Modern Player applies a 29% transparent white fill over the background on feedback layers. Here is one way to remove this:

    1. Select View > Feedback Master.
    2. Select the parent (top) slide of the feedback master you're using (in your file, that is the third master).
    3. Pull down the Background Styles option in the Feedback Master menu at the top of the screen.
    4. Select Format Background.
    5. Drag the Transparency slider all the way to the right (to 100%).
    6. Close the Feedback Master.

Thank you, Steve! That fixed it.

While we're on it and since the slide master/feedback master element is unnecessarily complicated, how do I remove the unremovable feedback boxes? For whatever reason, Articulate easily allows you to delete everything except for that feedback box...

  • Hi Edward,

I'm sorry you're having these issues with knowledge checks and slide masters! I have opened up a support case on your behalf. You should hear from our support engineers soon to help you with your file.

    Thanks for reaching out!

Actually, that strategy hasn't worked anymore as I found this horrible, frustrating issue has contaminated other slides someway somehow....

You need to remove it from the "parent" master (the layout that is at the top of all the layouts in that particular master).

  • Never mind. There's a slide that still hasn't been resolved. Glad to know I wasted half of my day on this unnecessary nonsense. It should be way easier to revert back to original states. Incredibly frustrating design...

  • A quick note to Steve's comment. Go to View, and choose Feedback Master. From there, everything is easily removed.

  • I wouldn't say "easily." The Feedback Master aspect is horribly complicated. I don't even know where to start. There are a bunch of slides--some blank and some alternating. There are several options to choose from in the dropdown menu. Everything can easily be mixed up in a mess, and then, you're kind of left in the frustrating nonsense I'm in right now.

There should certainly be a better way to revert to some kind of default state...
