Issue with Accessibility feature on Quiz Feedback Layers
Hi Steven,
I played your recording. Is there a reason the screen reader says "unavailable" when receiving the feedback layer? Also, it seems the screen reader keeps repeating the results in the recording but never announces the Continue button.
For my prototype, my contact who is testing the file with a screen reader states that, "On the last 2 quiz slides, the error feedback is not presented in an accessible manner that a screen reader user could easily figure out."
I believe I have everything organized on the Focus order correctly and labeled correctly.
I am uploading my prototype now. (My contact also states that screen reader cannot read the popup information on slides 5 and 6; however, it reads the information on slides 3 and 4, which does not make sense to me.
Thanks!
Sherri
Hi Sherri!
Thanks for following up and sharing your file!
Sorry for not clarifying the announcement of 'unavailable' in my previous reply. However, the screen reader announcing 'unavailable' is expected behavior. When the focus shifts to the Submit
button and when we activate it by pressing the spacebar or Enter, the state of the Submit
button changes to disabled and shows inactive. The screen reader is picking up on that state change of the button after activating it.
Also, after re-recording my demo, and navigating to the Continue button with the down arrow key, the NVDA screen reader announced the Continue button as expected. Do you mind sharing which screen reader is being used so we can test your file more accurately?
After testing your file, I was able to replicate the behavior you described, here. The text below the tabs on Slide 1.5 is not being announced by the NVDA screen reader. I would like our senior support engineers to have a closer look at this issue, so I've opened a support case on your behalf. They should be following up with you shortly!
