Interactive video, time line buffer problem.

Hi all,

We already have a help line ticket in but seeing if anyone else has the same issue with interactive videos.

We tried to push what is possible with storyline to create a real interactive video in storyline 2. However, in a low bandwidth environment, the video would buffer but the interaction time line continue playing which rendered the tool useless. We had to develop a custom HTML5 framework to make the effect work (https://vimeo.com/315105494 - screen grab of our tool, videos hosted on external CDN for best delivery).

We discussed this with the Articulate team at the Learning Techonologies conference in 2017 and hoped that by now in Storyline 360 this would have been fixed but unfortunately the bug is still there.

I have a ticket in for this. The more people raise this issue the higher the priority so does anyone else have the same issue? In 2019 this should be a table stake...

Thanks all!

  • Hi Heimo and Michael!

Good news! We are no longer seeing this bug in the latest version of Storyline 360 (Build 3.72.29699.0) where video lags behind the slide timeline when you view your course in a slow internet connection.

To insure you don't continue to see this bug download the latest version of Storyline 360 via the Articulate 360 desktop app. Here's an article on how to do that.

Please let us know if you're still noticing the issue, and we'd love to continue troubleshooting with you in a support case.

  • Hi Storyline team. Any update on this? we discussed this also with your team at the Learning Technologies conference in London and they mentioned you were working on a solution.

i would greatly appreciate your response

  • Hello Heimo!

Thanks for checking back! That is right, this is something we are looking into.

For this scenario, we have discovered a workaround that is working for others.

Workaround: Publish slide to Video then replace the original slide contents with the published video and enable the video seek bar instead of the player seek bar.

Lastly, a bug in the software is not something we take lightly. To ensure we have the right fix, we have process in place to tackle bugs. You can peek at our process here. We'll report back in this discussion when we hear of further details!

Just wondering if this bug has been fixed? Would love to have a functional 'interactive video' in Storyline.
