Interactive Employee Handbook

I am turning our company's employee handbook into an interactive document.  The goal is to use Storyline 360 Rise.  I want the employees to be able to navigate throughout the course using a search option.  Long story short, how can I create a search option for the training using Rise.

Thanks

  • Thanks for telling us about your need for search, Raina.  Rise is evolving every day, and it's a neat suggestion.  I’m going to forward your thoughts to our product team so that we can look into it for the future!

  • Raina, this is a wonderful idea and I'm keen to hear how you go creating an employee handbook into an interactive document within Rise. Can you share your journey with us?

I'd be more than happy to share this journey. I'm awaiting additional approval on some recent updates made to the handbook, and then I'll be well on my way!

Hi Raina,  I'm working on a book as well, and I think the idea of having a search function is a great one;  it would certainly be a boon for those reviewing longer works!   Thanks!

Hi All! Wondering if there has been any update here on the search functionality? Also putting together an interactive employee handbook and would like to take it to the next level by incorporating a search function. Also - any feedback on how you all created your handbooks?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for checking in - the Search feature is on the list for our team to take a look at. We'll let you know as soon as we can with any other updates about it.

        Hi Rosa,

To turn the Search function on in a Rise course for students, open your Course, choose Settings, then Navigation.

        Turn the Search option on.

When a student takes the Rise course, they will see the search icon as shown below.

This is a great feature!  When I search, the results show the section of the course where the term (or part of a term) is used.  I'm using the accordion block for a large portion of this course/tool, and while I can easily jump to the section, it's impossible to tell where the term is used when the term is in the collapsed description.

Is there functionality that automatically expands the accordion to show exactly where the term is used?

Hi Michael! Thanks for letting us know how we can improve the search feature in Rise.  Right now, search results that are in hidden texts or sections require the learner to complete any necessary tasks to show the highlighted search results. I'll submit this as a feature request, and we'll let you know here if we make changes that will help!
