Articulate Storyline Crashes when publishing with Classic Player
I logged on today to continue working on a project that uses the classic player and published it to HTML to preview where I was with it only for a new dialogue prompt asking me to change to a modern player and surveying me as to why I need my project using the classic player.
The classic player allows for background and other base components of the player to be transparent using the advanced color features where the modern player doesn't.
Upon testing, I found that switching back and forth between the player types even crashes Articulate Storyline.
I published my storyline content only a day ago before your update and now due to whatever changes you've made to fade out the classic player support it isn't working and will impact many users.
I'm quite disappointed that you haven't tested the implications of a publicly pushed update before making it live.

this "error" message from storyline is not very helpful - please click on the blue text "information", then a second window will open with really interesting informations.
Just copy the text from the second window and post it here.

Hi Scott!
Sorry for the trouble! Can you look into a few things for me?
- Are you saving locally?
- Is this happening with new projects or just the project you are currently working on?
- Have you tried jumping back to a previous version to see if that makes a difference?
If you could also attach the .story file so we can test on our end, that would be helpful too!

I have this same issue as well but I had never upgraded the player from classic to modern. Always had to keep the classic player for various reasons. Attached is my "information" error. (see attached)
I tried publishing an online review link and previewing the course in a slide but both crashed. Even when I rolled back to a working version of SL360 November 7, 2022 (Build 3.69.28997.0), it performed the same way with a crash.
I made a Word Doc but the file was mostly blank even though we have several slides in the course. Only came with 1 page and some text. (see attached)
I tried several working SL360 file from the project both locally and from our backup server source. Same results.
Did something change for the SL360 software? My last successful use of the file was around November 2022. Any support would be helpful thanks!- Jürgen_Schoene_Community Member
do you use the standard classic player with the default font "open sans"?
can you upload a .story file with this problem

So .... looks like I was a solo issue account based on other devs on my team. Everyone else could open the files so instead I looked to see if Windows 11 had any updates. It did, I downloaded/installed and restarted my computer. Seemed to fix all my issues so far!
Sometime the simple things are the most important. I knew it effected the software as I see a new Reach 360 button in the Publish window. Good to know how to fix tho.
Thanks for the reach out @Jürgen!
