When does Storyline report scores to Rise, and when does Rise report scores to the LMS?

We are using scored Storyline blocks in a Rise course. We would like the learner to be able to review content in Rise after they complete the Storyline block and have the option to retake the Storyline block one more time. Does Storyline report scores to Rise after the block is completed, or at the end of the Rise course? And does Rise report each Storyline block score to the LMS each time the learner completes the block, or in one cumulative score at the end of the Rise course? How can we limit the Storyline block attempts so the learner can only retake the block one more time?

  • Rise has 3 options for tracking a course: completion percentage, the result from a Quiz in Rise, or a Storyline completion block (that is, a Storyline block with a complete-course trigger).

When you track via a Storyline block, the program only tells the LMS that the SL block was completed. It doesn't send any results data from quizzes in Storyline blocks.

Also note that a Storyline block will always reset when revisiting the page in Rise.

  • Thank you! So the learner doesn't need to view the whole Rise course if completion is tracked with Storyline blocks?

  • As Phil said, a Rise user only needs to view the block--wherever it is in the course.

Rise can only track via one SL block. In other words, every user would need to complete the indicated block to successfully complete the Rise course.
