Uploading Storyline to Google Sites

I am trying to create my Instructional Design portfolio on Google Sites. I published the project to my public folder in Dropbox, but it was in all separate images. What am I doing wrong? Can someone just tell me the steps I need to take to upload my project onto my Google Site? Thank you!

  • Hello Vivienne, and welcome to the E-Learning Heroes Community! Glad you're here! 🥳

Thanks so much for reaching out! Great to hear that you are looking to share your instructional design portfolio!

You will want to make sure that you are publishing for Web Distribution when using a web-based platform. To help you get started with publishing content, I'd like to share a few resources with you:

( In this blog post, my colleague Tom walks you through a video tutorial and the next steps when uploading your courses to the Google Platform.)

(This is another great post to help you decide what to include and refine your E-Learning Portfolio.)

I understand Google Sites might behave differently from Google Cloud. I'm curious to hear what other community members have done in the past when sharing their portfolios with Google Sites.

If any other questions come up, just let us know!

    Have a wonderful day! ☀️

  • I'm struggling with this same issue.  I published to a Google Cloud account earlier this spring.  The link is now dead--I'm not sure why.  And it was never very helpful when it worked.  It's Google Sites I need help with please.

I've got to the point where I can view the project with FTP.  But I'm unsure what that means or how it works.  When I select that option nothing looks familiar.

I'm still building my Google Sites website and haven't published it yet.  Is that the issue?

      Hello Rachel,

      Happy to help!

Google Sites is a third-party application which we don't currently offer support for, but if hosting courses there is anything like hosting courses in AWS S3, then you'll most likely need to just upload your courses to the hosting site like so:

In the example in the screenshot, taking the direct link to the story.html and entering this link in a browser will allow launch the course. The most important thing to note is that you'll need to upload every file and folder that came in the published course to your hosting site in order for the course to load properly.

      Hope this helps!
