You'll need to use an LMS if you're planning on gathering course data from your learners. Here's a quick introduction to LMSs if you've never used one before:
Basically, you'll want to host your course on an LMS/LRS first in order to take advantage of its data collecting capabilities. Then, you can embed or include the link to your course on your website in order to distribute it to your learners. Take note that you'll need to publish your course for LMS/LRS distribution before you can upload it to an LMS/LRS.
