Text Entry Box text will not wrap
I am having issues with the text that is typed in a text entry field not wrapping. Sometimes the text will wrap and sometimes it will not. Am I missing a setting or something that will correct this problem?
Thanks!
Hi, everyone!
I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 76, we’ve included important fixes and new features!
One enhancement we’ve included:
Data-entry fields wrap text to multiple lines based on the “wrap text” option rather than the height of the field. You no longer need to make the height more than 60 pixels.
To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help!

This is great news, Kelly! Thank you! Appreciate Articulate listening to user concerns.
Hi there, Diana. I'd like to confirm a couple of settings to see if what you're experiencing matches an issue we know about:
- Are you using a text box with a variable reference to display the text-entry field text? And is that where you are seeing it fail to wrap?
- Does the inputted text include spaces?
- Are you viewing the Flash or the HTML5 output? How about the Preview within Storyline?
Thanks for reaching out! I'll let you know what I think when I review your reply.

The text box does use a variable reference. This text box is where the participant will enter their own text and the text will then be displayed on another slide. I was able to solve the problem by expanding my text entry field box. As long as the text box had at least a height of 62, it would wrap the text that was being inputted in the field text box. Anything smaller would not allow the text to wrap.
Thank you,Diana Rayburn

Thanks so much for confirming that. It does sound like the bug Crystal mentioned is happening in your file. I'll update our report to include your experience as well as the workaround you discovered. As soon as we get more information on a fix, we'll let you know!
Hey Diana. I'm excited to let you know that we just released update 13 for Storyline 360! It includes new features and fixes - check them all out here.
One of the fixes addresses an issue where variable reference text wasn't wrapping properly.
Here’s how you can update Storyline 360 to take advantage of everything the latest release has to offer. Let me know how you make out!- TessaMakiCommunity Member
Is this still a known issue? I ran into it today and we just got 360 a month or two ago. The only way I was able to fix it so it would wrap was to increase the height to 62 like Diana mentioned.
Hey Tessa,
It sounds like your text entry field has a height less than 62 pixels, is that right?
We are seeing a bug in Storyline 360 that the text entered in a text entry field won't wrap unless the height is greater than 60 pixels. This is a bit different than the bug we fixed back in update 13.
Our team is still looking at this issue, and we'll keep you posted on our progress!

Yes, that is correct. It was less than 60, but bumping it up to 62 did the trick. I had taken Crystal's response to Diana that the fix should have resolved her issue without the need to adjust the height. Glad it's being worked on, but adjusting the size was an easy enough workaround so not a big deal at all. Thanks!

Is there any update on this? The text does not wrap. I have 10 text entries that take text responses and I can't set the height more than 60 per the design. Using the latest release of SL 360 as of 9/15. Thank you.
Hello, Jeff. So sorry you're facing this problem.
Setting a larger text entry box than 60 pixels is the only workaround we found at this time, but we'll keep this discussion updated on any new developments. Thank you for bearing with us!

Not sure if this is related to this discussion, but will start here. I had all my text boxes set but it seems when I do something to the overall project, last thing I did was adjust the player settings, my text and text boxes extend well to the right of my slide. I have had to re-adjust the size a lot. I noticed I did not have the Wrap Text set. Perhaps that?

Hey Wendy,
Does this seem to happen in different courses or just this specific one? The behavior mentioned here is a bit different, so I would reccommend starting with a repair of Storyline to see if that helps resolve the issue.
With your permission, I'd also like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

Hi , thanks for taking a look at this issue. It happens in all the scenes.
I did upload the project for your review. Storyline was just installed on
my computer last week, so I think that part should be good. I started
thinking it may have something to do with the master slide.Wendy
