Storyline: Invalid or Corrupt File
Hi, can anyone also help me?
I need your help. My storyline file is corrupted, and I don't know what to do anymore. I already tried all the ways I could find on the internet and I didnt successfully recover it yet. Can you please also help me with this? Cos this project is DAYS of work :'(
Here's the drive link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DFxgeMAJzZmcSh3ocUv2W5euqfDOXkKE/view?usp=sharing
Idk why it doesnt directly upload here.
Thank you so much,
Lexi
sorry your .story file (= .zip file) is corrupt
the most important inner file "story.xml" is complete gone
so it's not possible to repare the file
perhaps you can find in "%appdata%\Articulate\Storyline" a copy of your .story file
articulate: you should fix this 10 year old "corrupt on save"-bug

Thank you so much for your effort, Jürgen_Schoene! This is so sad, I guess I have to start recreating the module now. I already did the "%appdata%\Articulate\Storyline" thing but Idk why there are no files to recover in my computer when others can find files on theirs.
Anyway, thanks so much again! :)

Hi InsigniaISD!
Sorry to hear you've also encountered file corruption in Storyline!
I see that you're working with my teammate Dexter, through your support case. It looks like he replied to your e-mail sharing insight and steps to take to try and recover a working version of your file.
Here's how to check:
1) Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
2) Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.
3) Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.
4) Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.
File corruption is unpredictable, and there's no straightforward way to determine what causes it. Common causes are environmental (disk errors, power outages, improper shutdowns), viruses, failed Windows updates, and even file size (i.e., very large files have a higher risk of corrupting). Consider using the preventative measures described in this article, to protect your project files moving forward.
