Pictures are importing desaturated
Hello all,
While building a Story file I am importing a picture (.PNG) and when it appears in the slide, it looks much different that the actual file, almost desaturated. It should be noted that this is NOT happening with all pictures, just a few. Any insight would be incredibly helpful!
Hey Christian. We discovered that too...the image looked great in Photos and PowerPoint, but Storyline was picking up something strange.
We're going to investigate why.
In the meantime, I've recorded a quick Peek screencast with a possible workaround for you. I saved a copy of the photo from my Photos application in Windows. Inserting the copied file maintained the integrity of the image.
I hope that helps as an interim fix!
Hello Christian! Thanks for sharing your image and screenshot.
I saw the same effect when I inserted your image into a Storyline 360 slide. For comparison, I inserted another .jpg image and did not see the desaturation.
I compared the properties of the 2 images, and I found only these differences:
- Yours: Shot 1/8 sec. f/13 50mm
- Mine: Shot 1/400 sec. f/3.6 19.1mm
Do you see the same difference in properties between your images that work and those that don't?
I'm not an image expert, so I'm going to bring this behavior up with my team to determine what's happening here.
I'll update this discussion as soon as I can!

Hi Crystal!
Thanks for the update. Unfortunately the pictures I am using have a wide variety of shot settings. The crazy thing is that some of the pictures from the same shoot show up fine.
Also, to rule out a problem with the picture itself, I imported it into a standard Powerpoint and it imports correctly. It seems to be specific to Storyline.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will try the workaround going so my peppers look good in the course. I look forward to the update!

Although not ideal, the workaround worked for me. My peppers are brilliant again!
Nobody wants a dull pepper. 😉
Thanks for hanging in there!

Bump. Is there an update to this issue? I still cannot get the pictures to import correctly.
Hello Christian! Thanks for reaching back and out and sorry to hear that you're still having difficulty with this. I do not have an update to share at this time, but Crystal did share the details with the team to investigate. This article explains how we tackle these bugs.

The workaround that Crystal mentioned no longer works and I am back having my pictures desaturated by Storyline.
Sorry to hear that Christian. Can you share some additional images for us to take a look? I do not have an update and we've not seen this reported by others.
