Open pfds in Rise
Hi community,
I often provide pdfs in Rise. Is the setting possible that the document opens directly in a new window? Currently the download opens in the browser and the session window disappears behind it.
This confuses my users.
Have a nice weekend

Hi Andrea!
I understand that you would like your PDF documents in Rise to open directly in a new window.
I'd like to know how you are embedding your PDFs, are you uploading them directly in Rise, or are they hosted on a different site, and embedded through an iFrame code?

Hi Hazel,
I forgot my question and didn't notice that you had answered. Unfortunately, I still have the problem. I uploaded the PDFs directly to Rise. The advices from others are great, but they don't solve my problem. My students keep getting lost because of this.
Hello AndreaBeck-ae09,
Happy to help!
The browser and how it is configured is what controls how files are opened. No setting in Rise 360 can alter this behavior because it is ultimately up to the browser to determine if a link will be opened in a new tab or window. Please refer to this official Google forum for details on how this behavior is controlled in Chrome. However, you may need to find other browser-specific instructions if you are using a different browser.

I tried this out today. When I use the Multimedia Block to add a file, the form I upload automatically gets downloaded to the learner's system. Therefore, I created some introductory "How To" text to help them out. If the form could open in the course (or in a new window as Andrea asked for above), and they could fill it out and then download it, that would also be useful.
Hello Paula! I understand you wanted PDF files to open in a new tab or window instead of being downloaded from your Rise course.
