NEW IN RISE 360: Scenario Block
Today we released the scenario block for Rise 360, and we think you’re going to love it.
Now you can easily add branching scenarios featuring Content Library 360 characters to Rise 360 projects. Just drop dialogue, responses, and feedback into a scenario block to walk learners through choices and their consequences. And because it’s Rise 360, your scenario will look stunning on any device.

It's exciting to see this new addition to rise. I was really hoping to include this into a project we are building in rise. However there is no way to customize the characters, or even disable them to just use a background image. Without the option to upload your own characters we won't touch this feature, we use custom illustrations for all of our work.

Custom characters (or introduce teenage characters please). Thanks.

I love this but the 150 character limit is silly. It limits our use of this feature, which could be exceptional for role plays and knowledge checks.

I agree, I spend about double the time i need to trying to finagle my meaning into 150-200 words. It’s so incredibly short :(

Great new feature, but I also think 200 characters is way too limiting for the scenario text fields. Can we adjust this in any way??
Thanks
Graham

Hi Alyssa! I am still baffled as to why adding to the character limit is not in the plan. A large number of people clearly want this, and there are feasible options to grant these requests.
The limit on characters makes what could be an AMAZING scenario block superficial at its best. If we can add more characters, AT LEAST to the “text block” then we can add depth to the content.
I’ve worked at 3 companies and I cannot imagine using this tool for training in the various customer-facing or teammate processes we follow without having to spend precious hours trying to truncate the verbiage.
I am currently using it in two courses, and when I show it to my teammates and clients, they SHOULD be like, “Wow that is incredible!” they end up responding like, “Cool, I guess” because it quickly becomes clear that the benefit of the learning is seriously limited by how few characters you allow.
Here’s a screen capture of my proposal and I think I make a pretty good case: https://youtu.be/lrFq9lWple8
I honestly don’t think this is just a passing desire from a few instructional designers. I think this is a serious deal-breaker for this feature.
Thank you for your time!
Hi there, Rebecca. Thank you for taking the time to make a thoughtful video. I've included it on our report where we are tracking requests for increasing the character limit on scenario blocks.

I feel it's quite limited out the gate - our application would be more thing-focused - like for example you come in and the CT scanner has this error and then some problem-solving scenarios. Or using people but it's a patient interaction addressing smoking cessation.

I like H5P for the most part. However, my experience with development is that the interface is a bit clunky. Also, I would like to use H5P inside of Rise for some additional interaction, but I can't get it to play well with mobile. Nina - if you have any recommendations for this use case, please let me know. I would be happy to hear about this.

Is there a way to add extra responses?

Tom put together this helpful tutorial on using the new scenario block, in which he demonstrates how to provide an additional text explanation (after the initial dialogue feedback is displayed). It would be great if we could also include a video explanation. Sometimes text isn't enough.

Agree, this is a fantastic first step. Thank you. We appreciate that uploading organisation's own characters is probably in future development but in general we would love the character suite across Articulate to include children and young people and adults dressed for everyday home life. We are creating elearns for social workers so real families and everyday (not expensive on trend) room photos would be brilliant.
