Local storage and SL project published locally

Hi

I have some questions about how SL behaves with local storage e.g. save / resume states.

I see that when publishing to web and testing locally, that is running the story.html file from c drive, local storage is still used.

When you re-publish the story, even if you dont change the name, the local storage is reset / cleared - or maybe it uses new a new table? I cant see which, mainly because i dont know how to view the local storage table easily.

So is it reset, or is a new local storage table started with a new site name?

I tried changing the URL name, either by changing the folder name or the story.html name to see if that would 'reset' the course and clear the local storage, but it doesn't. So something else happens when you re-publish.

Often when debugging, I need a way to refresh everything. The 2 ways I found for this are either adding a "restart course" trigger somewhere for testing purposes, or setting the player option to "ask to resume"

  • For debugging purposes, an incognito window works really well to restart everything.

  • Good point Walt, yes I use that too - just sometimes working with people who didnt start that way, or sometimes I didnt, and its already cached.
