How to share learner decisions between courses?

I know this is possible, but I'm not sure how I can go about learning how to make this happen.
Does anyone know of any resources for building courses with this type of function?
Description of how it could work:
In an effort to have a more tailored learning experience, it would be really cool if decisions a learner made in Course 1 can be stored and retrieved by Course 2 and have the contents of the Course reflect that decision.
