Free or low cost hosting for SCORM content?
We need to offer training to contractors who are outside our LMS system. Is there a free/low cost service that will allow us to upload SCORM content and provide an open link for people to take without signing in? I think we could do this via a Moodle plug-in on a web site, but I am looking for something a little more turn-key than that. Ultimately, I need an email to be sent upon successful completion. Any ideas?
Thanks!

You can upload your SCORM courses for free on https://lmsportfolio.com

Not sure if anyone has found a good alternative since this post, but there is now https://www.masterelearn.com. This site is still under development and continual improvement but it is currently free to use/test your eLearns and share publicly. No sign in needed unless if you are uploading SCORM content yourself.

are you saying to change the filename? because I tried drop box and it won't work.

Hi - no need to change the filename in Dropbox. As long as you have uploaded the whole folder to your Public Folder in Dropbox, you just need to link people to the presentation.html (like this).
Hi Andrea,
I'm not sure if you've found a solution yet, but we recommend using Articulate Online.
You can sign up for a 30-day free trial of Articulate Online here: http://www.articulate.com/freetrial
Any LMS that is compliant with SCORM, AICC, or Tin Can API will also provide accurate tracking capabilities. Here are some open-source LMS options that may meet your tracking needs:
* Dokeos: http://campus.dokeos.com/
* eFront: http://www.efrontlearning.net/open-source
* Moodle: http://moodle.org/
Hope that helps!

Hi Ashley,
If someone is a contract designer who is out of work, job seeking, and simply trying to host a design portfolio "course" published with Articulate Storyline, are there any free or lower cost options to Articulate online? Rather than pay for a private LMS and host an entire training catalog, the hypothetical user in question is simply trying to host one course with a public link he can share to potential employers. Thanks!

Brandon - you could use Dropbox, or Google Drive for this (link is for Storyline but substitute .story.html for .presentation.html.
Alternatively, there is always a free SCORM Cloud account.
Hi Brandon,
We don't have a free Articulate Online set up, although you can use a trial account but it's only for 30 days. I'd also look into the options that Carl shared specifically SCORM Cloud as that's a good free industry standard for LMS content and will work in there similar to other major LMS set ups.
Carl's link was referring to how to upload the Storyline output, but since you're using Presenter you'll need to use the presentation.html link (which is included in your published output) vs. what the article says.

Thanks Ashley. My course is live on Articulate online (http://brandonclark.articulate-online.com/7906184485) and would be grateful for feedback from anyone reading this thread, :) however, to only use Articulate online to host a portfolio would be cost wasteful. I am thinking that SCORM Cloud would be the way to go.
Unfortunately Carl, people who joined dropbox in 2012 or later do not have a "public" folder.. apparently because they adopted a model that is similar to sharepoint. The problem is, when I post my Articulate web publish folder to dropbox and use the public link for the story.html file (like it says in a few online tutorials I have seen) dropbox will not launch the storyline flash environment. There is no document called presentation.html. SL2 launches from a file called story.html Hi Brandon,
I think based on you posted in a Presenter forum we assumed you were using Presenter content (hence the presentation.html) vs. Storyline (which uses the story.html). Glad you'll be able to use SCORM Cloud - it's a really great site!

I searched the community for hosting scorm content and this topic seemed perfect... never realized it was posted in a forum for another product. My apologies
