Customizing Pronunciation with SSML
I have been using Amazon Polly for four years to produce the narration for my Storyline projects. Now that Storyline incorporates the Polly neural voices and SSML, my question is how to customize pronunciation. We use several terms that require specific pronunciation. In Amazon Polly, you can provide a PLS file that contains all the customized lexemes/phonemes in a single file, rather than repeatedly inserting them inline in the SSML. Does Storyline support a similar use of a PLS file to consolidate all the custom pronunciations?
Hi Dale!
Happy to share some insight on this!
Currently, Storyline 360 doesn't support a PLS file format when authoring text-to-speech content. However, I see that you've submitted a feature request with our support engineers. Great idea! Thank you for sharing the feedback on the type of functionality you'd like to see in Storyline 360.
We'll be sure to update you if this feature makes it onto our Feature Roadmap!

Thanks for the response. Being able to associate a single PLS file with the TTS system would save a LOT of work over replacing words individually with the same phonetic pronunciation over and over.
Hi Dale!
You're welcome! Thanks for sharing the additional feedback on how this feature could benefit you when authoring in Storyline!
We'll be sure to update this discussion if we make any changes to this feature. Have a great rest of your week!
