Changes to Existing Rise Course

A client is using the Elevate LMS and we have several modules being actively taken within the LMS.

When we make changes to a Rise course, I output the SCORM file and they re-upload it into their LMS. (Thereby replacing the old with the new.) When this happens, any learners who were in the middle of the old course suddenly find themselves reset to start again (fresh) in their course.

Is there any way around this?

This is a LMS issue, not a Rise issue.

Most Learning Management Systems will treat any changes to an existing course, as a new version of the course. As such, it will require students with an "in-progress" status to restart the course.

Our LMS (not Elevate) allows us to indicate that a new version of a course (provided that no new Lessons were added, or existing Lessons were deleted or moved) is an update. If we choose that setting when replacing an old SCORM with a new SCORM, students with an "in-progress" status do not need to restart the course. All of their previous progress data and bookmarking is retained.

Note: most Learning Management Systems do not have this setting, and will treat even minor edits as a new course, which is what you are experiencing.
