Nursing Skills Demonstration
Hello! During this crazy time I have been asked by one of our state agencies to help them with the online nursing assistant training. This is specifically focusing on high school students, but could be used by all. They are looking for a way to make the nursing assistant skills more hands-on and interactive. In a typical classroom setting, the students learn the skill, practice it on each other or a mannequin and are checked-off on the skill. Since we are not able to do that a this time, how can we re-create this online?
We currently have all of the skills taught on video, so one idea was to add questions and pop-ups to the videos. Another idea was to have the students record themselves demonstrating a skill, such as hand washing, and submitting the video to the instructor. What other ideas or tools are available?

One thought is to show 4 different video scenarios where only one is doing it the right way. If they pick any of the wrong ways, you provide information on why that is not correct method and the negative outcome of doing it that way.
Hi Amanda,
One idea would be to try to have learners recreate the steps they need to take virtually, like in this example.
I hope that's helpful!
