Embedding web objects in Rise

Hi,

I'm currently investigating the opportunity for embedding bespoke activities in rise , and was wondering if there was any thought behind embedding html packages/content into a rise block. 

Currently, the only way is to embed something through an iFrame, which means we have to host our content elsewhere. For some clients, their maybe limitations with accessing this content, such as firewall security or internet connection. 

In the past with Storyline, publishing has enabled us to package up the web objects content within the Storyline package, which has meant to have not had issues with hosting or accessing content from external sources. 

I have noticed that you are able to import Storyline files into rise, and that upon exporting, the storyline file does in fact get grabbed and contained inside the final Rise export. So will there be a chance to do so going forward with other content/packages?

    I made a few adjustments to your embed code based on our suggestions for iframe codes in Rise here. 

    This is the embed code I used: 

    <iframe allowfullscreen="true" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.mentimeter.com/embed/85f1d2174b065f93078d33e80e060061/26c39b2df3f6"style="position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;" width="420"></iframe>

    And here's a sample Rise course with that embedded website!

    Hi Linda,

    It looks like you have an iframe inside another iframe, whoops! Also, you'll want to make sure you're using the double quotes versus single quotes as noted in this article.

    Here's an update to your code:

    <iframe allowfullscreen="true" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.mentimeter.com/embed/8caeea08cc84a2b832c87d4ee26b7841/e3dec6fb1850" style="position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;" width="420"></iframe>

    Hello - I am having no luck yet with this code for my Mentimeter embed:

    It doesn't come up as invalid, but all I can see in edit or preview is the string of code.

    Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

      Hi Peggy,

      I took your embed code and placed it into a multimedia embed block and it worked fine (see image below). What block are you using in Rise?

    Hey Alex,

    I have a related side-bar to your comment. I uploaded Articulate Storyline 3 content to a Rise module. It worked great in preview but when I exported to a SCORM1.2 zip file the LMS (ShareKnowledge) would not recognize it as an eLearning.

    I just wanted to add.

      Hey David,

      Thanks for chiming in to share your findings and experience.

      As you can see here, we are aware that tracking of Storyline within Rise is not happening right now.

      This is actually something that is on our radar, but I do not have an ETA to share.

    Hi Alex,

    Great question, and I know that this is one you've brought up previously here.

    To answer your question, it's not something that is on our roadmap right now.

    I think you make a good use case though and I'm going to submit a feature request on your behalf.

    Any ideas/suggestions can always be made here.

    Hi Leslie,

    Any progress on David's request? I remember asking a similar question a year ago. I will be great if we can embed web object seamlessly within Rise.

    Hey, Abd. Thanks for checking in!

    While the ability to embed web objects per se is not a block of Rise at this time, I'd love to understand more about your needs. Could the Embed block work for what you're looking to do? If not, would you mind telling us a little more about the type of scenario you would use such a block in? 

    Excited to hear your thoughts!

      Many thanks, Katie for the prompt reply.

      Yes, I would like to be able to embed web object per se so that it will
      appear within Rise rather than taking the learner to the external
      application.

      For example, I created an activity using a web-based application. I have
      the option to embed on the LMS or website. I tried using the Snippet but
      the object didn't come out properly.
