Build your brand and STAND OUT is my favorite.- MelissaMilloway10 years agoCommunity MemberThanks! I think standing out is a big one (of course standing out in a positive way).
- CeciliaBernal10 years agoCommunity MemberGood tips Melissa! Don't let your tools define you; it's my favourite!
- MelissaMilloway10 years agoCommunity MemberYes! Mine too. I'm actually writing a blog post about it.
- AshleyChiasson10 years agoCommunity MemberLoved watching your entries trickle into my twitter feed this week :) - Especially Track Your Time - so true! When you're charging hourly, this is of utmost importance, and when you're budgeting for project-based pricing, you NEED to know how long it takes you to do certain tasks, or else you'll just end up undercutting yourself, which is awful when you consider how much your additional costs (e.g. taxes, etc.) amount to.
- MelissaMilloway10 years agoCommunity MemberYes, I find it to be paramount (the time tracking)! I'm really good at estimating projects or fixing things in projects now. I might even post some more. I really enjoy making the images.
- DanielAdeboye10 years agoCommunity MemberGreat Tips Melissa...
"Don't let your tools define you" and "Step away from the Computer for inspiration" are my favourites!
True... I sometimes allow my tools hinder my creativity and thereby define me eventually.
How much true inspiration do I really get in front of the computer? Best to step away, see and meditate, then return!
Thanks for sharing.- MelissaMilloway10 years agoCommunity MemberI weirdly get a lot of inspiration while I am working out. I will pull my notepad up on my phone and take notes while I'm working out. Haha.
- AshleyChiasson10 years agoCommunity MemberI used to do that (whip my phone out to take notes while doing cardio), but now I use my cardio time as 'off' time. I try to power down my brain during that hour. I find most of my inspiration comes to be during sleep...I'll dream of something and wake up with an epiphany :P
- JohnWagner10 years agoCommunity MemberWow! I'm not anywhere near ready to do freelance work. But I love your use of images that capture the essence of the freelancing tips. Excellent work!
