Personality Quizzes in E-Learning #218: Challenge | Recap

Social quizzes and personality tests are a fun way to engage readers. For course designers, they’re a great opportunity to practice working with variables and designing games. For this week’s challenge, you’ll create demos based on the popular Buzzfeed personality quizzes.

Which E-Learning Character Are You?

This is a quick example I built to help you get started. Each of the six choices is tied to a variable. After all six questions are completed, we use conditions to evaluate which choice has the highest value. If two or more choices are equal, we added a random variable to determine which character appears. I’ll record a screencast tutorial to show how this works.

Challenge of the Week

This week, your challenge is to create a personality-style game based on the popular Buzzfeed quizzes. You can begin with a content library template or grab a freebie from our downloads.

If you’re new to Storyline and need a place to start, try working with basic variables including Storyline’s random number variable. Don’t worry about the design of your project as much as getting familiar with the technical basics.

Resources

Here are a few resource and previous challenges to help you get started. Remember, if you ever get stuck or need some help, please ask in the forums. We’ll be glad to lend a hand!
