Rube Goldberg Animations in E-Learning #268: Challenge | Recap

In Storyline 360 and Storyline 3, you can trigger actions to occur when two objects intersect or collide.

For example, you might show a layer when a character moves along a motion path and intersects with a doorway. Just set your trigger to occur when the object intersects.

This opens the door to creative gaming and advanced animation possibilities. And a fun way to practice cause and effect animations is by recreating Rube Goldberg machines.

What Is A Rube Goldberg Machine?

Rube Goldberg was a cartoonist who drew complicated machines and contraptions built from ordinary objects that completed simple tasks.

This week, your challenge is to create a simple animation inspired by a Rube Goldberg cartoon. 

Key areas of focus this week:

Pace yourself. This type of challenge can get complicated really fast. You don’t need to build an overly complex example. Keep it simple and practice working with motion paths and triggered animations. If you get stuck or need help, ask in the forums!
