Mix-and-Match E-Learning Challenge Examples #457: Challenge | Recap

Challenge of the Week

This week, your challenge is to combine three or more e-learning challenge topics in a single entry. When you post your examples, please mention the challenges you combined to create your demo. Here's the list of all previous challenge topics.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

✨ Share Your E-Learning Work

  • Comments: Use the comments section below to link your published example and blog post.
  • Forums: Start a new thread and share a link to your published example.
  • Personal blog: If you have a blog, please consider writing about your challenges. We'll link to your posts so your great work gets even more exposure.
  • Social media: If you share your demos on Twitter or LinkedIn, try using #ELHChallenge so your tweeps can follow your e-learning coolness.

🙌 Last Week’s Challenge:

Before you share your challenge trifecta, check out the big and bold font examples your fellow community members shared over the past week:

👋 New to the E-Learning Challenges?

The weekly e-learning challenges are ongoing opportunities to learn, share, and build your e-learning portfolios. You can jump into any or all of the previous challenges anytime you want. I’ll update the recap posts to include your demos.

Learn more about the challenges in this Q&A post and why and how to participate in this helpful article.

📅 Next Week’s Challenge

  • Challenge #458 (04.19): Roulette games. Inspired by a recent community discussion, this would be an excellent challenge topic to practice working with dials and random number variables.

Just a quick heads up – if you want your blog, website, or LinkedIn included in our recap posts, could you do me a favor and add or update those links onto your ELH profile sometime this week?

I found some broken links last week when I pulled the recap together. You spend a lot of time building creative examples, and your work deserves all the attention it can get.

If you make changes, please let me know in the comments below. Thanks!

Version 1.0
  • Murder mysteries have always intrigued me, and I've been eager to create an interactive murder mystery theme since January. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish it. However, when this week's challenge theme was announced, I saw the perfect opportunity to work on my work-in-progress murder mystery interactive.

For this project, I've integrated elements from various e-learning challenges, including:

    - Using Text, True/False, and Number Variables in E-Learning #454 – Lot of variables in the interactive
    - Show How You're Using AI to Create E-Learning Courses #452 – Used AI images and voiceover
    - Using Tabs Interactions in E-Learning #448
    - Spotlight Masking Effects for Discovery Activities in E-Learning #447 – Thanks to Paul
    - Using Background Audio & Music in E-Learning #442
    - Using Variables to Personalize E-Learning Courses #441
    - Using Click-to-Reveal Interaction in E-Learning #434

Nice one, Jayashree. I have a knack for true crime as well. I got it right at the first attempt. :D

There was so much to choose from! I went through the whole list to see if there was something that grabbed my interest today. Here are some of the challenges I used as inspiration: #171 Medical Course Starter, #204 Comic Book Starter, #411 Interactive Sliders, #419 Using Walls and Baseboards, #427 Using Plain Language, #442 Using Background Audio, #449 Emphasis Animations, #452 Using AI in E-Learning, and #456 Phat Fonts.

I wish I had device in my pocket that did this whenever I speak to my doctor! I really liked this, Jodi!

Very well done! I really like how nicely the drop-down menus work. Boy, I know nothing about chemical reactions in the kitchen, though. I scored a phat 0!

Very interesting. I never gave storage tanks a second thought. I didn't know they had floating roofs.

Hi Jodi, there are four basic types: floating roof, fixed roof, fix roof with floating roof inside and an open roof. Probably more than you ever wanted to know about storage tanks ;-)

I've never seen a dial used like that before. Very inventive. And thanks for calling out the custom closed caption feature. I haven't used that yet. Can you share how you used AI to put it together?

Thanks Jodi. I used AI to control the animations (lightning flash and when Frankenstein's Monster moves back to lying down), by getting Claude.ai to help me write some custom Javascript.

Claude even helped me to ensure the lightning effect was safe for photosensitive users.

Just tidying up my file for download.

P.S. The New Feature I have used is custom closed captions (changed their position and background colour)
  • I feel like I'm the first. No pride, because it's true that I worked on it last week.
I used 3 previous challenges #456 (Chunky fonts), #453 (Using dials) and #418 (Custom animation in e-learning) to create a fun and engaging (I hope) game... more.... I also mixed and matched 3 challenges from the previous week (with a nod to the other challenges). I'll let you discover the result.

Haha! What fun! It took me two tries to make it to the end. What an ingenious game! I have to say, each time I made a balloon pop, it stung!

Beautiful! LOL! You don't miss anything! It made me wonder if there is such a thing as high clearance wheels for skateboards to make it through our dirt roads. I'm honored to be included!
