Marcus and Jodi Discuss Story Boards
Demo: https://jodisdemos.s3.amazonaws.com/364+Podcast/story.html
I only answered one question...ten was too many and I only have a 2 minute attention span. I did a quick video, and to make use of Storyline features, I added closed captions (I was a little rusty). I learned you can change the size of the captions! That control was right under my nose and I had never noticed it before.

- Samuel3 years agoCommunity MemberExcellent transitions and great use of humor :)
- JodiSansone3 years agoCommunity MemberI continue to credit you with introducing me to Vyond through your demos and when we met at DevLearn! No kidding, every time I fire up Vyond I think "Thank you, Samuel."
- DavidAnderson3 years agoStaffThe caption sizing wasn't always available, but I'm glad you found it. And I appreciate how you took the most controversial topic to use for your interview. I still remember the rocky start we had to our storyboard challenge https://community.articulate.com/articles/share-your-elearning-storyboard-templates/
- JodiSansone3 years agoCommunity MemberI found a caption sizing thread in the forums as I noticed they seemed kind of small. I remember that storyboarding challenge too! Jackie's template is great and I don't even do one that detailed all the time. Sometimes it's just stick figures on a piece of scrap paper. I guess I'm just conditioned to think that way--and I know some people feel they get pushback or don't want to spend the time boarding. I always include board-time in my scope of work proposals, even if it's just for me, and usually clients don't object. On to #365!
- ScottWilson-8c03 years agoCommunity MemberWow wow wow. Love the animation. Is that Adobe Character Animator by any chance?
- JodiSansone3 years agoCommunity MemberHi Scott--that animation is done in Vyond. Every time I use it I think of our Articulate community contributor Samuel Apata, who told me about it several years ago. It's pretty easy to use--click, drag, and manage your timeline. :)
- Ron_Katz3 years agoCommunity MemberNice one, Jodi. I recognize the Vyond video. Great directing.
- ThierryEMMANUEL3 years agoCommunity MemberIt is so perfectly done, Jodi.
- EmineSharma-ce33 years agoCommunity MemberI just want to say thanks. Your work is very inspiring.
- PeterMercier3 years agoCommunity MemberFirst, this is amazing. I'm an infant to this, but everything you've done that I've seen absolutely blows my mind. Vyond is great - I was thinking of doing exactly the same thing (well, using Vyond, that is) for this, and now it's confirmed. Also, THANK YOU for sharing murf.ai. I had never heard of it, but that is soooo much better than the text-to-voice options in most platforms. Mayer would be happy.
- JodiSansone3 years agoCommunity MemberMurf.ai is pretty good. I follow Mike Taylor on Twitter and he mentioned it once. The AI voices keep getting better and better to the point where you almost can't tell it is AI. I use Marcus, Terrell, Eva and Cathy pretty often. :) On occasion you have to "teach" them how to say a word. For example, last month I was having trouble getting Terrell to say "cesarean section" and had to play with the spelling until it came out correctly. And I have a pharmaceutical client and it's hard to train the AI to pronounce drug names correctly. sometimes. But I've noticed a huge leap in the last year in how natural some of the voices sound. Check out a trial!
- KarinLorbeck3 years agoCommunity MemberGreat as always, Jodi! I envy your ability to put together a storyboard quickly. Your video inspires me to practice my storyboarding and to dip my toes into Vyond. Thank you!
- JodiSansone3 years agoCommunity MemberHave fun with Vyond Karin! I see Ron Katz and Jonathan Hill using it, and Samuel got me started. I taught myself in April 2020 right after the pandemic started and it is very intuitive to use.
Also, on Twitter Vyond posts a series called "Taylor Tinkers" every so often. Taylor does these really fun 2 minute demos on how to do something creative. He builds a demo and then speeds it up so you can get a feel for his technique and then try it yourself. He did on on simulating a snow globe for the holidays, panning across a scene like in the movies, and an earthquake effect. Here's one I made after seeing it: https://twitter.com/i/status/1486367046250078210
And Taylor just did a fun one on creating a dream sequence that I am playing with (in my free time!)
- MichelleWhel8533 years agoCommunity MemberWow, I would love to learn more about storyboarding like this! Thanks for sharing and I'll add storyboarding to my list of things to do in 2022. Thanks for your amazing examples Jodi.
- Jonathan_Hill3 years agoSuper HeroThat Murf.ai voice is really good! And I second everyone's compliments here about your expert use of Vyond for this demo.
