An open-ended question requires a statement as an answer, rather than a yes or no response. Unlike a multiple choice or matching question type, an open-ended question isn’t automatically graded. E-learning developers might provide a sample answer to an open-ended question, and then encourage the learner to compare their own answer to the sample answer to check their knowledge.
Open-ended questions might be used in e-learning to test learner competency in quizzes, personalize course content, or gather in-depth feedback in a survey.
