Affordance refers to all of the possible actions in a certain situation, in relation to a user’s perception and capabilities. For example, a user clicking a button, dragging a slider, or turning a dial is an affordance.
Affordance is an important e-learning design component because it impacts how learners interact with course designs and content. E-learning developers should consider affordances to make sure they’re developing usable content.
